Memorial day weekend had its ups and downs for the Winland Racing team. I ran extremely strong in Petaluma taking a career best 2nd place out of 25 cars. I played chase the leader after getting an early flat on lap 20. I unlapped myself 4 times coming short of the checkered flag by a mere 15 seconds.
I was also on a great pace in Chico when at lap 86 my car overheated while leading the race, I replaced the radiator after no apparent cause of the overheating was found. I then made it back up to 4th place when my motor overheated after wrecking and bending my rear frame.
We hope to complete the new asphalt car in time to run a few summer races. My car will need repairs and will probably be back in action some time in August.

After Petaluma, I traveled to Oroville where John & Shawn helped me get the car back in order.

On track at Chico and afterwards licking our wounds, note the rear frame rail kicked over.......

Winland Racing debue'd the new 66W car during a Friday Night Pure Stock Race @ Ocean Speedway

We worked out a few bugs and learned a few things about the car. Had one minor incident when a car spun in my path. It is always good to get the first crash/damage out of the way. Bring on Petaluma on the 22nd.

As you can see, the "old standby" has seen better days! The new-new car is on its way of joining the enduro ranks soon!

Winland Racing has entered a new era! Team Winland will be building a second car to compete in the 2009 season. The "old standby" will be stripped with all parts going into the new 79 monte carlo.
Winland Racing Crew members will have the opportunity to drive the team car.
Currently the new car (orange one) is getting a new transmission and will be ready for a test and tune @ Ocean speedway in the near future. Chowchilla has cancelled with the next enduro race scheduled in mid- May.

Kings speedway hosted 14 cars which included 6 West Coast Enduro regulars. The race started slippery slick after the water truck poured 4 laps worth of water on the firmly packed clay. The "old standby" held its own eventually loosing the rs exhaust early in the race. I got rear ended in the front straitaway around lap 40, the wreck caused rear frame damage which ruined numerous rear tires. I retired after going through 4 tires.
Enjoy some pictures and videos!

Next Up for Winland Racing is Chowchilla Speedway on April 11th. Going to work on the new car and decide whether or not to junk the "old standby"....
Some of this video includes Crewman Mathew taking his first hot laps!

Stockton 99 opened with a respectable crowd of 3000 people. WCE showed up in force with 22 cars. I started in the 6th spot and raced as competitive as possible for about 180 laps out of a possible 199. The "old standby" held its own, motor was strong, just had some problems gripping the track. After race diagnostics revealed a missing shock on the L/R. We still took 10th place.

Next up, Kings Speedway 3/21/09 then Chowchilla opening day on Sunday afternoon. Car is running strong, I removed the asphalt tires and put the dirt tires on, fixed the bumper and installed the shock. Should be a good time!

Stockton 199 is Saturday 3/14. I have been hard at work on the new car, unfortunately the tranny failed yesterday. I have decided to resurect the "old standby" so I can help celebrate the re-opening of the New Stockton Speedway. Hope to get the new car out soon!
New car in the background.....

Started working on the new car for 2009. Just added some bars, working on wiring and then exhuast and then I will fire up the motor. My goal is to have it running by early February for the annual test and tune & swap meet @ Antioch Speedway. That will give me about a month to get the bugs worked out for Stockton in March.
