2/10/05
We raced 4 times in 2004 placing a 3rd, 7th and 2 DNF.Unfortunatley the season took its toll.
The rebuilding process will include new roll bar supports, additional door bars, new fenders bumpers doors and hood. The rear quarter panel may also be replaced. We have already spent 3 or so saturdays and expect to spend many more preparing this beast for battle in April.
Let the fun begin!
We are still working on the car trying to get it ready by 4/16/05 for Chowchilla. The goal is to finish the sheet metal and paint the car by Easter. Once it is painted, I will replace some wires that melted and get the motor tuned up with new plugs, oil and cleanup. I still need to get my radiators serviced from RadiatorLand in Santa Clara and may even purchase a few new tires. Still have a ton to do! All for the love of enduro racing!
I also just added a link to a web group focusing on enduros and a link to buzznet for extra picture storage. These links are on the front page.
I ended up completing the front end, installed the front bumper and John removed most of the rear skin. John and I also had to remove a portion of the rear frame that was bent from the 2004 season.

The panels are finally all welded, trunk, rear bumper and front bumper are complete.
Now it is time to put the famous red and white and the number 66.
We will also be adding 2 sponsors to the car. Radiator Land and Silicon Valley Construction. I will post the link soon.

Just having some fun with clip art
I did a compression test a few weeks ago and found some problems with the heads. This was not too surprising due to the overheating in Altamont last October and overheating at Chow in April. Had the heads repaired and just got the car running last night. Seemed to run well with a few test drives up and down the street. I am now working on adding a windshield and wipers for the Altamont 200 lapper on Sunday the 15th. I have added a new sponsor. Windshields for Less. I will be posting their contact information and website soon.

The car is still in good shape after the Altamont race. We finished 14th. The tranny stopped working after lap 185. I found that I had lost or sheared off the 3 bolts between the torque converter and the flywheel. I repaired this today and the tranny appears ok. Now I need to repair the bumper and remove the windshield to get the car ready for the Memorial Day 200 lap race at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico.
I took a much deserved month off and now the priority is to get the car ready for Kings speedway
I decided to start troubleshooting the motor to try to find out why it overheated in Chico. I did a compression check and found 2 cylinders without compression. I pulled the head and found a blown head gasket. I am going to put it back together and see how the car runs. The car itself is still in good shape.
UPDATE JULY 7th
Prior to re-installing the heads, I noted a crack in the cylinder wall in #2. This motor is done. We will need to get a new motor prior to any racing this year. Hope to have the car ready by the September Kings race. Then the 200 lapper at Chowchilla and Watsonville in October.
WR had the motor rebuilt and is preparing the beast for battle on October 1st in Petaluma. WR will be using this pure stock open show as a test and tune for the 2 enduros coming up. One is on the 8th at Chow for 150 laps then back to Petaluma for 200 laps on the 15th.
Both Kings speedway and Watsonville have closed early this season so hopefully they will run some shows in 2006, if not then maybe Petaluma will add some enduros as this years is their first ever.
