Update 11/10/07

The new car for 2008 has been started, follow the progress here!

Wow, what a race!

This was truley the "enduro of all enduros" for the 56 drivers that took the green flag

for the annual Pumpkin Smash Enduro @ Altamont Motorsports Park.

I started in the 50th position to start the road track section.  I ended up with one early flat tire and lost my brakes at the 75 lap intermission.  I found a leak on the brake line and repaired it, then re-entered untill lap 135 when I ran into the # 3 Malibu that had just spun into my path in the chicane portion of the road track. That wreck ended up taking out my radiator and fan.  Kevin, Fred and I replaced the fan and radiator during the break.  The second 150 lap segment was on the 1/4 mile.  The car ran very strong as I posted a fast lap of 20.3 seconds which was just .75 seconds off of the fast time.  A few flat tires slowed us down a bit, but otherwise we were running with the top dogs.  I ended up 16th with 249 laps out of a possible 300 laps.  Not too bad.

All in all it was a GREAT time had by all.  This was truley the Pumpkin Smash to remember for years to come as this race ranks up there on my all time favorites.

Enjoy some video!

Over the past 4 months or so I have supported the West Coast Enduro as an official and pit help to numerous racers.  But now the rules have changed!

My arm has been healing up real well so I have installed a new motor and will pilot the 66W car @ Altamont Raceway on 10/27/07 for the chance to win $5000.  The race will consist of 150 laps on the oval and 150 laps on the road course.  Should be a blast.  Be There.  Race starts at 4pm.  http://www.westcoastenduro.org/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=41

WR is done for 2007.  While preparing the car for battle, Owner Ken Winland tore his bicep requiring a 4 month recovery.

In the mean time, Ken will go to local enduro races and work as an inspector/official while helping promote the sport of enduro racing in Northern California.

Ken also wants to thank our new sponsor MR Freeze Refrigeration Company for joining our team in the 2008 season.  See Robbie for all of your refrigeration/AC needs in the south bay area.

Update 6/11/07

WR purchased a 79 Monte Carlo  for the 2008 season or ?  Current plans are to fix the current 66 car and run it as long as possible then start building the new car for 2008.  The current beasts frame is somewhat off in a few place but still manages to get around the track.

Update 5/30/07

WR competed in the Orland 200 on May 20th and the Chico 200 on May 28th.  WR was very competitive in both races leading in Orland and leading for about 20 laps in Chico.

WR did encounter mechanical issues during both races ending his night early.  Special thanks to pit crew Mathew for driving a total of 900 miles for both races and this dosent include the 350 miles he drove to Madera to help out a fellow racer.  Mathew is the Crew Man of the Month.

WR competed at Watsonville on 5/12 with the American Stocks as a test and tune for the upcoming Orland and Chico 200 lap Enduros.  Had a lot of fun and competed for the 28 laps offered.  Have a few bugs to work out otherwise good to go.

Update 3/11/07

We ran the Merced 200 lap enduro.  WR started in the 4th position and quickly got to the 2nd position finially settling into 3rd. The tranny let go at lap 41 ending a promising day.  Now it is time to regroup and get ready for battle on the road track at Altamont Raceway on 3/31/07.

Special thanks to my crew, John, Kevin and our new rookie Mathew and of course Jenn from the 39,93 team for scoring for me.

Update 2/10/07

I pulled the car out of winter storage and installed the motor.  The car is proudly showing off its battle scars of seasons past.

Update 2/3/07

My engine builder "LIL" Kyle worked all day to assemble the top end of the motor with plans to install it mid February.  The season is starting to come alive.

Update 1/22/07

I have purchased a set of heads from Ebay to replace the set that had a crack due to overheating.  I plan on having everything together by mid Feb. for some test and tune then our first Race at Merced on March 10th.  So far the season is looking to be about 12-16 races.  Winland Racing plans to race between 6-8 races, mostly on dirt but may race once at Altamont and Roseville.
